CabareteBars & RestaurantsCasa del Pescador Don't let the plastic chairs at the Casa Del Pescador put you off. The food there is well worth it. ![]() Don't let the cheap plastic tables outside put you off, Cassa Del Pescador is a proper restaurant, serving high quality food. I’ve dined there on a few occasions in the past. It remains the only place anywhere (so far), that I've eaten snails (not bad, I wouldn't rush to have them again but wouldn't be unhappy if someone served them to me). Being British, we're notoriously bad at being able to look our food in the eye while it is still living. An American pastor once said that the difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' can be demonstrated by a ham & egg breakfast. The chicken was 'involved', the pig was 'committed'. I don't like to see the animal that is 'committed' to me having a good meal, so I only look at the lobster tank if I know I won't be having lobster there that night! If you like to know that your lobster is fresh, you pick out the one that you want to see on your plate. So with my eyes strictly averted from the tank, I tend to go for the 'surf & turf'. Fortunately, there is no chance of coming eyeball to eyeball with the steak part of the meal! From memory, the surf & turf is about RD$750 (about £12.50 or US$25) and is excellent. I've never finished it all, but always scoff the lobster, steak and fillet of fish (who needs rice, chips and green, healthy stuff?) I really think the owners should spend a little time and effort (and money) to buy some new beach furniture and to get rid of the old, square sign at the front, that looks like it's been there since about 1992. If it could look as good as their food tastes, it would be a great place. Non-beach places review menu below. Some images required. Click on text for links.
