I think this forum is dying on its arse tbh - it’s managed well, and there’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s been an irreversible shift in attitudes/habits online - changing your SV username wont change this. Online forums are quite a dated concept IMO, which also reflects in the people who use them (including me).
The Morecambe F.C. fans page on Facebook now has 2,000+ members, which is more people than we have supporters (who actually go to games, don’t bet on us to lose and openly take delight in our shortcomings). You seem to get a wider range of views from different ages of people, and more engagement in discussions.
I think where shrimpsvoices has its advantages is that you can view everything, and choose what and who you engage with - on Facebook somebody/something else decides what you see, which can mean you miss things that you’re genuinely interested in. It won’t have the quantity of discussion/debate - but it can have a better overall quality.... especially if it reverts back to being more light hearted and witty. Some people can take themselves a bit too seriously, especially when they should really be getting on with doing their odd jobs.
