Truro and Brackley next season

Truro and Brackley next season

Postby Potted Shrimp » Sat Apr 26, 2025 5:19 pm

Both promoted from the National north/south leagues respectively. Although how the hell Brackley have become a ‘north’ team shows just what a mess has been made of the restructuring from 20 years ago.

Nevertheless having Truro in the league will be interesting, the first ever Cornish side at that level - and there will be huge media interest when they play Carlisle!

Could also be renewing old rivalries with Chorley or Chester......assuming that both reach their respective play off final.

That's a horrible indication of how far our elusive owner has allowed us to sink......

Just hope that DA's comments post match yesterday are born out of the frustration of so many 1-0 defeats when all we needed was an accomplished goal scorer or better still a full season out of Angol.

There is only one individual to blame for all this and that is toss pot Jason W.

Nobody else... :!: :!: :!:

Nothing to do with restructuring 20 years ago. Brackley are simply more northern than the other 24 clubs in the National League South. Regardless, Brackley & Truro, should be good away fixtures.

Weird isn't it how quickly things can change.
We look forward to playing Brackley and Truro while Wrexham, who we played just 13 months ago, will be visiting Southampton and Leicester.

Just a few 10's of millions apart..

On that basis Wrexham were playing Eastleigh 4 years ago, so maybe Panjabs budget can get us to the Championship by 2029.

This Cider is nice

That was 3 years ago though, not just one, as you point out Ipswich got to the Prem.

I can remember Swansea City doing it Mark in the late 1970's / early 1980's.

They went from the old Division 4 to the old Division 1 continuously.

I think, IIRC, they then plummeted the same way back......

Conference North Final. Scunthorpe V Chester
Conference South Final. Boreham Wood V Maidstone

Would personally like to see Chester and Maidstone win.

Quite a few not liking the conquest of a trip to Truro, but how about a 33 hour ferry to Bilbao? Lol

Anyone travelling to Brackley next season by train ..Brackley doesn't have its own train station

Nearest station is Banbury which is 10 miles away

I'm hoping our Truro game is on a Saturday.
A few beers in London on the Friday afternoon/evening.
Sleeper train from Paddington at 23.30.
Gets in a Truro 7.30-8.00am
Breakfast at Spoons and then check in to a cheap B&B
Happy days

Wouldn't be cheap Hodgie

Single Lancaster to Euston
Single Paddington to Truro
Single Truro to Lancaster

Match ticket
Hotel Saturday night
Food and drink

Not much change from £400 to £500

Cheapest seat I've seen on sleeper from Paddington to Truro is £63.50 on the 23.45 (sleeper cabin would cost more)

Another way to ensure you get there before KO is the 06.24 from Manchester Piccadilly to Birmingham New Street at 08.05. Then the 08.12 from New Street to get into Plymouth at 11 48. Then the 12.19 from Plymouth to Truro to arrive at 13.33.

Getting back could be a problem though....

You could go from Lancaster but pushing it a wee bit to get there in time for KO.

Easier by Fans Trust Coaches I would think.....but around a 10 hour journey but at least you would be back in Morecambe in early hours of Sunday am.

I hope that industrial action on the railways doesn't ruin an enjoyable away weekend.

Definitely a season to be purchasing a rail ticket for £30/year (2 travel together or family/senior etc) -30% saving straight off! Just randomly picked a Fri-Sun in July because further ahead not available & got one way London to Truro £47 on a Sat leaving London at 7, Lancaster to Truro Friday returning Sun £167 less 30% off both prices. You really need to play around with train line or at least chose split ticket
