If sports injuries to professional sports people are having repercussions on their clubs / associations with regards to honouring continuance of salaries, are sports people covered by personal insurance policies that enable those injured to still receive their salaries but from insurance companies as against their clubs?

If, with injuries to Fraser, Gaz and possibly others, payment of salaries is still the responsibility of the club then we are having to pay out a lot of money from the playing budget but with no return.

Individual doent need insurance - they get paid whether injured or not its main benefit of being on a contract. Therefore individual wont take it as they dont need it.

For club its like most insurance - they can take it if they want - its a gamble do I pay premium when I might not need it - each club will have a different view.

Good question. I know that if insured they will pay out if a player has his career cut short through injury but not sure about in the season.
