This form of not defending our flanks has been going on for years! Any progress is being hampered by our current manager, it's about time the owners made there presence felt!fulwoodshrimp wrote:Bury had obviously done their homework and realised how weak we were defensively on both flanks. Their two wide men were left unmarked and free to attack whilst our defenders were 10-15 yards away! Our young centre half on loan looked out of his depth and the sooner Lavelle returns the better. All in all it's not looking good and it will be interesting to see how the new owners react.

He would probably like to start with eleven defenders! Trouble is if they don't close players down or track them it becomes so easy to score against us. We rarely close down their wide players, usually let t hem get an overlap to put in crosses. The crosses in turn cause chaos and usually end up in our net. The 2 Oldham goals are prime examples of this dire defendingblack morse wrote:Westgate Wanderer wrote:This form of not defending our flanks has been going on for years! Certainly in all the games I've seen them down here I have noticed the amount of room the opposition have on our flanks with none of our players anywhere near them is asking for trouble. Trouble is what happens with free crosses into our box or passes to one of their forwards just outside our box (unmarked!). The trouble is that Jim's answer will almost certainly be to replace an attacking player for a defender.
