Bring back the death penalty. Thoughts and prayers to those affected.

Awful news.
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Mircle no one was killed. Looks likely to have been road rage rather than something more premeditated.

I wouldn't be surprised if alcohol or other drugs were involved. Certainly, it is beginning to look like it isn't a deliberate attack.

Don't rule out something medical, like heart attack or early onset dementia, although the camera phone footage does appear to show the driver getting wound up by people on the street.

Driver looks too young for dementia and to active for heart attack. Looks like road rage at not being able to get through. :(

Initially, yes, but the earlier videos (before any injuries) show a mob surrounding it, opening car door, trying to drag him, out, breaking windows, etc., so he may well have panicked and tried to "escape" thus causing the injuries etc further up the road.

What I would say is there was a ridiculous amount of people. Over 1 million turned up. My lad turned me and said this isn't gonna end well.
Lots of amazing people just having fun but also alot of drunk people who had been there waiting from 11am.
They closed all the roads so where the hell did that car come from?.
When we arrived a lime street which was 5 minutes after the incident it was carnage.
Large crowds being held outside. When the news got around people started panicking and police couldn't hold people back.
Massive crush which I'm amazed nobody died.
More police arrived to gain control but it was a very frightening end to the day.

He's 53; Terry Pratchett was diagnosed in his 50s, and I did say 'early onset'. As for heart attack, there's an article on BBC News now about men dying of heart attacks in their 40s. I'm not saying either is necessarily likely, just possible.

And this is EXACTLY why we thankfully left the event early.

We were stood near The Liver Building and it was literally shoulder to shoulder and more and more people kept on coming down the side roads and pushing through the hoards.

It all became too much so we left, and were home in time to watch the Parade pass where we were stood, on the tv.... (which I had said all along but that's another story....)

Thank goodness we left early.
