What if the rumor began from Jason being pissed at Lawyers getting involved with the sale due to his shifty practices

IF

these rumours are correct, it is a dangerous game to play. Obviously, Derek would already know this and be looking for another position as we drift along. We could end up in a position where Derek finds employment elsewhere and we're left with nobody, and no-one with authority to appoint a new manager. At a time when negotiations with new players will be advancing, suddenly, we don't know who the manager would be? Will any new recruits suit their style?

And at the moment, Whittingham is still the owner.

Getting really pissed off with this  Derek came back to us last Summer when things were in a disastrous shape with virtually no players signed. He was only given the money to sign players at the last minute and then got very little support in the January transfer window. Relegation was odds on from the start of the season and taking all the circumstances into account I don't think Derek can be blamed. Who decided to sack him? If it was Jason it's a despicable last act. If it's the PWs I think it's a huge mistake which will alienate many fans. If it's the Board on their own then I think they've made the wrong decision at a very dangerous time and they should seriously consider their position.

If I've got it wrong and he hasn't been sacked then I apologise but the Board could have cleared the whole thing up yesterday.

I’m not starting a rumour of a rumour, I think it’s a complete p is stake!! Ian Everett was mentioned to me, that must be, mustn’t it!!! But they said something of waiting for paperwork to come through, which fits in with what others are saying.

If Ian Evett's been mentioned, it absolutely must be fake news!

Looking at Derek's LinkedIn page he's gone.

Being transparent with fans hasn't happened as mentioned in the forum.
Again I keep saying all Morecambe fans have at the moment is loyalty.

Sadly, every rumour on Derek leaving has come true. I suspect he's already been told but the new owner can't announce anything until the sale goes through. Bizarre though that he seems to have recruited some backroom staff very recently.

Assuming dazza's source is correct then I believe Derek doesn't know. Derek is one of the most honest guys around.

So we have at least 2 sources of this story, both saying that their sources are reliable, with one being much more reliable than the first.

Now if the sources are from the Club, is that with the blessing of the owner or new prospective owners?

IF NOT there needs to be an investigation about who is doing the leeking, be it true or just starting false rumours.

On the Club not commenting, with it being such an important issue of the manager not being retained (as far as I know he’s still on a rolling contract), the silence could indicate it’s true!!

Then if in time it turns out false I am struggling to understand why it’s not being denied either a Club statement.

Then if in time it turns out true, the silence could be indicative of how the communication with the fans are going to be panning out in the future. NO CHANGE from our illustrious current owner.

OK, let's go back to the beginning. It appears that this 'information' stemmed from Alan Nixon and Peter O'Rorke. One could have copied it off the other and both get money for writing about football matters. Both are capable of reporting 'possiblities' as true facts. Have we been taken in by another of these imaginary facts!

Hartlepool sacked manager in last 48 hours and replaced him with Simon Grayson

IF...

...it is true, then presumably, Derek won't be sacked. He's reportedly on a month-to-month rolling contract, so he'll simply be told that the contract won't be renewed at the end of this period. If he's found another club by the time that happens, it will appear that Derek left of his own volition, which both he and the club would prefer. If he hasn't found another job, then the club would make an announcement that they sacked him.

That would be my guess... IF...

I disagree. If the sale is close to conclusion, then Derek should have met with the proposed new owners soon after the sale is agreed, and be working with them during the legal process. This ensures as smooth a sale as possible and allows for continuity. What shouldn't happen is a sale be finalised, and only then begin to plan. We will need to hit the ground running. For example, Derek could be told 'as soon as the sale is concluded, we will be increasing your playing budget by 75%' or 'our intention is, once we own the club, to keep the playing budget the same as has already been agreed'. Derek would then know which players/agents to begin negotiations with, and/or, if he would want to build a working relationship with the new owners?

The last thing we want is the well oiled machine that is Morecambe FC being plunged into chaos on day one!
